Keenan house – the addition of a large kitchen living area to the rear of a century old inner suburban villa presents as a distinctly modern light structure but uses matching roof forms to relate to the old house. A large openable glass window wall faces north, maximising exposure to winter sun for heating and allows complete opening up of the living areas to the garden in summer. This modern urban house designed by COOP15 Architects in Seattle, Washington, USA. The materials are tough and weatherproof, with limited use of natural wood accents. Living spaces aretightly organized and vertical, stacked over the garage, with a shifting geometry between floors creating a more dynamic form and living spaces. That shifting language continues with the built-in cabinetry in the kitchen and at the large central stair and wall.
