House in Tasmania by BLOXAS Architects

The project, an extension of a typical three bedroom 70s house, investigates the simplicity of light in form, colour, and detail. The design features a new main bedroom with floor to ceiling windows, bathroom, walk-in-robe, hallway joinery and a timber deck to the north. The plan pulls back to create two private courtyards, one seemingly internal, featuring Japanese Maple trees. These bind the design on two opposing sides, one now creating a more apparent and appealing entrance to the home. Original and reclaimed material selections, such as an old Huon Valley barge, was used (in the timber decking and contemplation seating) to contrast the white planes of the blade privacy walls. Minimalist Wooden House with Gardens by Tetsuo Kondo Architects

This minimalist two-story white wooden house designed by Tetsuo Kondo Architects, located in Yokohama, Kanagawa, JAPAN. Neighboring houses are built up against the lot on both sides but a lush forest spreads to the back while a view down to Yokohama city can be enjoyed to the front. The rooms are organized vertically and by mixing exterior spaces into the house, the surrounding can be felt at all times. Gardens are placed accessible from each room and openings are aimed in various directions so that the view of the sky and forest can be enjoyed even through other rooms. This home with a peculiar pitched roof blends into the building context and maintains various types of relationships with the exterior. They will create a pleasant lifestyle with the help of surrounding environment.
