Pendant Lamps Series – 28 by Omer Arbel
March 9, 2010 by admin
Canadian designer Omer Arbel has created a lamps series in hexagonal shapes which nestle into each other to create patterns as dictated by the needs of the interior. Called 28 pendant lamps, designed for BOCCI, made in clear, white and frosted glass (with several other standard colour schemes contemplated in future months).
Here’s some more information by Omer Arbel:
28 is a result of a glass blowing technique developed by Omer Arbel whereby air is intermittently blown in and then sucked out of an intermittently heated and then cooled glass matrix. The result is a distorted spherical shape with a composed collection of inner shapes, one of which houses a low voltage lamp.
Standard 28 pendants are made in clear, white and frosted glass (with several other standard colour schemes contemplated in future months). However, 28 is a design which lends itself to infinite compositions and gradations of colour. Bocci’s glass atelier in Vancouver thrives on bespoke work and is able to work with our clients with great versatility on custom colour compositions to match the vistion and needs of a project or interior.

Ultra-Contemporary Apartment Kitchen by Mal Corboy
March 5, 2010 by admin
This is a really nice ultra-modern kitchen with chose the Stat Vein Marble and Stainless Steel by New Zealand based designer Mal Corboy, its very contemporary kitchen design ideas – amazing, look after the jump.
Here’s some text description by Mal Corboy:
The award winning Architect for the apartment project had designed this contemporary complex with very modern simple lines. There is a high degree of glass and natural stone on the exterior. He had sourced European Imported Kitchens for all of the apartments, however my client found that the company could not meet the height he wanted in the cabinetry of 2.4 meters’. A client that I have worked with in the past recommended they commission myself to assist them achieve their perfect Kitchen.
To achieve this we eventually chose the Stat Vein Marble and Stainless Steel, which provided an overall strong mono chromatic look to the Kitchen. Bench tops were made150 mm high of Stainless Steel with the Stat Marble inserted into the work surface.
A streamline chromed handle was used on all the cabinetry which were imported from Germany, this gave the Kitchen nice lines and could be used secondary to the Blum electric push release draws. The end result is a very contemporary kitchen which takes peoples breath away when they first see it. This has become a focal point in this large open plan apartment.
